Neogen® Tetrathionate (TT) Broth Base 500 g, for Salmonella, NCM0143A
Features:
- Selective enrichment medium used for cultivation and recovery of Salmonella species (excluding S. typhi) from food, environmental, and laboratory samples
- Recommended in standard methods including FDA/BAM and Compendium of Methods for the Microbiological Examination of Foods for Salmonella detection
- Supports recovery of injured or stressed organisms following food processing conditions such as heat, refrigeration, drying, or chemical exposure
- Requires iodine/iodide solution addition prior to inoculation to activate tetrathionate selectivity
- Prepared by dissolving in water and heating; not intended for autoclaving during preparation
- Intended for food safety, environmental monitoring, and microbiology labs; not for direct diagnostic use in humans
- Eggs can become contaminated on farms because laying hens can become infected with SE and pass bacteria into egg before it is laid - if egg is not refrigerated, bacteria can grow inside uncracked, whole egg
