Description

Masters Company® Photometer, Dual Range of Peracetic Acid (PAA) Testing and Peroxyacetic Acid Testing, MP-9700 E

Features:

  • Dual range digital photometer specifically designed to meaure peracetic acid (PAA) from 0 to 100 or 100 to 200 PPM solutions in water
  • Handheld meter gives precise reading, free from variation between operators and testing errors inherent in other methods such as strips and titrations
  • Utililizes most accurate of testing methods offered, and suitable for all formulas of PAA without correction factor
  • High range is achieved by mixing one milliliter of sample plus nine milliliters of deionized water in test vials
  • Peracetic acid (also known as peroxyacetic acid, or PAA) is organic compound appearing as colorless liquid with characteristic pungent odor reminiscent of household vinegar
  • All commercially available PAA products contain equilibrium of PAA, hydrogen peroxide, acetic acid, and water
  • Its formula is CH3C003H
  • Peracetic acid is ideal antimicrobial agent due to its high oxidizing potential and is highly effective against broad range of microorganisms
  • In addition, PAA breaks down in food to safe and environmentally friendly residues (acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide), and therefore can be used in non-rinse applications
  • PAA is one of the most environmentally friendly antimicrobial agents, since resulting wastewater can be land applied for irrigation and is generally eligible for NPDES permits to discharge to natural waterways
  • USEPA first registered Peracetic acid as antimicrobial in 1985 for indoor use on hard surfaces
  • Today, registered applications have expanded to include: sanitation at food and beverage plants, agricultural premises, wineries and breweries, greenhouse facilities and equipment, as well as animal housing
  • It is also approved for use in dairy/cheese processing plants, and directly on fruits and vegetables as well as on meat, poultry and seafood products
  • It is also used to prevent biofilm formation in pulp and paper industries and as a disinfectant for municipal effluent
  • As interest in “green chemistries” increases, PAA is finding use as biocide in industrial cooling systems

Included:

  • MP-9700E Test Kit, complete with colorimeter
  • Sample vials
  • Dilution glassware
  • Test instructions
  • Peracetic Acid Reagent pack for 50 tests [Replacement Peracetic Acid Powder Packs (100/pkg) #R-9703E]
