Description
Global Water® WL650 Sonic Water Level Meter, AM0075 Features:
* Under certain conditions, accuracy may exceed this limit; when the well casing is discontinuous; when the well casing is highly corroded or rough; when large obstructions (e.g. pipe joints or wiring exceed halfe the area of the well casing; if the well casing is less than 2 in. (5 cm.) or greater than 10 in. (25.4 cm) in diameter
- Accurate water level measurements using sound waves to measure well water level
- Obtain measurements in seconds without use of down-hole water level meters
- Lightweight, compact, versatile, and easy-to-operate
- Avoid cross-contamination
- No equipment to clean
- Works in cased steel or PVC-capped wells, partially cased rock wells, crooked wells, and wells with pipes, wiring, and operating pumps — even measure length of coiled pipe, as long as obstructions take up no more than half of the bore area without loss of accuracy
- Recommended for use on wells under 10 in. in diameter — accuracy decreases with larger diameter wells
- Select "Normal" (10 to 500 ft.) or "Deep" (200 to 1200 ft.) on depth switch — emits 5 pings in 5 seconds in normal and 4 pings in 16 seconds in deep mode; additional measuring time can be added by holding switch down as long as needed
- Factory default value for Normal mode is 10 ft (3 m) and 200 ft (60 m) in Deep mode but distance feature can be ignored if interferences occur from reflections from liners or from such things as pitless adaptors; default can be increased to returns within the problem distance are ignored; for draw down measurements that require the use of deep mode but it is also necessary to be able to measure to less than 200 ft (60 meters), the minimum distance can be reduced accordingly so that modes do not have to be changed during test
- For uncapped wells, the provided cover plate can be slipped onto the measuring duct to allow a seal for up to a 6-inch diameter casing; cover plates for larger diameters can be fabricated from plastic or metal sheet
- Variable or fixed gain modes — variable mode provides a rising gain or sensitivity with time to give greater weight to return signals that occur later in the cycle and is beneficial on deeper wells where the signal is more attenuated; fixed mode is less susceptible to interference from ambient noise and secondary return problems caused by irregular casings, but loses some sensitivity and may not read the deepest water levels
- Temperature settings on the meter must be set equal to the average air temperature inside the well casing in order to provide the most accurate level readings; the temperature setting corrects for the variation of the velocity of sound with the air temperature in the well bore and is displayed and retained until changed; temperature map table and look-up tables are provided with instrument to provide correct temperatures
